Breath of Hope

A hopeless situation is what Sister Abraham felt like she was living in.
She inherited a 720 square foot home from her mother, who passed away from Covid in 2021. This house is situated in the Tarish Pit (the Pit) community of Roseau, one of the town's poorest areas. Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Maria in 2017, the house became uninhabitable, and no one has lived in it since. When Maria struck the island, the mountain behind the house slid down significantly, nearly burying the back of the home. Every time it rained, water and mud would enter the house. Since Dominica is in a rainforest, mud and water enters the home daily.
Upon the arrival of the small team from Restore Caribbean Lives, the task of excavating the home and replacing the windows, exterior doors, and roof appeared overwhelming to accomplish within the limited days available to the team. Just getting the building materials to the home was going to be a daunting task. The team was able to engage some of the local young men to help with the delivery of the material and we immediately began to work on the home.
God continues to work in the realm of restoration, even within the ghettos.
We are grateful to all who prayed for and financially supported this trip. We believe that bringing hope back to a community is God's greatest mission for Restore Caribbean Lives.
